Wishing you all a blessed and happy new year!
Here is my desire for the new year ahead, “It is my own eager expectation and hope, that [looking toward the future] I will not disgrace myself nor be ashamed in anything, but that with courage and the utmost freedom of speech, even now as always, Christ will be magnified and exalted in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ [He is my source of joy, my reason to live] and to die is gain [for I will be with Him in eternity].” – Philippians 1:20-21 (Amplified)

I had the honor to reconnect again with Rachel Ulthmann from the Int’l Assoc. of Refugees (IAFR). Italy ACCI missionaries, Luke and Dawn Mann are in Minnesota at this time and were able to join Rachel and I for coffee and a conversation. We discussed the Refugee needs in Italy, the Refugee Highway and how we might help connect two of IAFR’s missionaries (heading to Italy soon) with ACCI members in Italy and work together. I value conversations like this. Joining together in the work of God is my favorite thing to participate in!
Nicaragua – As many of you know, our Canadian Director, Lauren Roth and I were invited by Jon Overlie, from my home church, to join him in Nicaragua to visit with ACCI national missionaries, Jossiel & Mayurie Diaz & Karla Prado and see their ministry work in their country. I am grateful for Jon’s leadership and making this visit possible.
While driving to Las Nilas, we crossed 15 river beds, then hiked 1 mile up hill to assess a spring-fed well that needed to be cleaned and repaired, which then fills the cistern in Pastor Yosaris yard next to their church. We were overwhelmed by their story of survival and had an opportunity to pray with them and others from their area.
We were able to attend morning church with Pastor Jimmy’s family and visit with them, hearing about his vision, his life story and their plans for putting the roof on the new church. A men’s team will be coming back in Feb. from my home church with Jon Overlie to put the roof in place! The singing was deafening, the hearts strong and full of worship.
Costa Rica – After Spending 4 days in Nicaragua, Jossiel and his entire family (of 9) drove Lauren and I over the border into Costa Rica to meet up for a short time with our ACCI missionaries there, Lyle & Stacey Watson and their family. We’ve been trying to get to Costa Rica for 4 years and see the Watsons but the cost was unaffordable. We’re grateful that this worked so well to visit both countries on the same trip. We spent time with the Watsons hearing about their vision for the Tamarindo Church and their expat ministry they offer to this transient and “surfer” community. Hearing about the recovery work they’ve offered as a result of the hurricane and tropical storms, which had overwhelmed the country, and spending time in prayer together was a blessing. Meeting their kids was a highlight as well! Stacey drove Lauren and I around one morning to show us the beauty of Costa Rica and shared about her life in Costa Rica.
One of the highlights in our time with them, was being able to sit down for lunch together with Lyle and the Diaz family and hear them share about their ministries with one another. It’s always a joy for me to see our ACCI team members connect and strategize together how they might serve together.

Church STM Leader Training
On Feb. 3rd, I have the privilege to offer some training at my church’s Mission Retreat for our STM team leaders and mission board members. I’d appreciate your prayer covering as I prepare and offer discussion, teaching and resources to this amazing group of servants.
Belize Mission Trip – Plymouth Covenant Church, Feb. 19-March 6, 2018
I’ll be heading back to Hopkin Village with a team of 8 from my church. I’m not leading the team but instead will be offering field facilitating preparation for my team leaders, Jeanette and Brad. I’ll head down a few days early to help with my team’s set-up and invest some member care time with our ACCI missionaries, Pastor Herdie & Victoria and Kathy McDonald. My cousin Diana, who is coming from Michigan, will be joining our team. This is her first mission trip! I anticipate great things from God as we serve together. Thank you for going with us in prayer and support. Please remember Luke in prayer as I am away. He’ll be finishing some deadlines at work and we look forward to some much needed time off together upon my return from Belize.
A New Children’s Book, Jesus, Let’s Talk – I’d like to introduce to you a new children’s book about prayer that my friend Lisa Jamieson wrote. She invited me to help with the photography for the book. To learn more go to her blog HERE.
“Jesus, Let’s Talk helps children, early readers, and people with developmental differences enjoy the sweet basics of conversation with Jesus. There are many ways to worship and this natural approach to prayer inspires both the young and young at heart. Colorful photographs of children and young people celebrate that the fingerprints of God are on all people, all around the world. The book also highlights key prayer words using American Sign Language. Young ones who are not yet talking, those who experience hearing impairment, and others who simply want to explore the joy of communicating non-verbally will have fun learning new ways to express themselves.”
