“Whoever speaks must do so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the power forever and ever.” 1 Peter 4:11
Short Term Missionaries. One of my favorite things I enjoy doing is helping our short term missionaries prepare to go out and serve and then debriefing them when they return. I learn greatly from them as I hear about what they have been a part of.
My niece Phoebe returned from Israel in Jan. after working two months with our ACCI project leaders there. Phoebe was able to serve in a soup kitchen, help a single mother with her children on a regular basis, work in the Revive Ministries office and help prepare for Friday night outreaches. She has left with a deep love for Israel and its people.
One of our retired couples, Von and Willie have returned from several weeks at YWAM in Chico, California in Feb. where they were able to serve in practical ways helping with projects around the base and also build a new partnership with YWAM. They spent time learning more about YWAM’s Mission Builders program, which they are now applying for. This program allows them to serve at any YWAM base around the world as retirees on a short term basis.
Canadian, Stephanie has just completed 2 months working in St. Louis, MO, as part of her leadership training with the Int’l House of Prayer. Her time there was spent partnering with Oasis Int’l doing home visits with refugees in transition, participating in the prayer room at Destiny Church, working at the Dream Center and Genesis home for prisoners serving time outside of the prison in the urban part of the city and participating in the Lunch Time Mentoring program for urban kids. Please pray for Stephanie as she goes to New York next week for 10 days of prayer and outreach to those in need. She will be graduating in May from the IHOP training.
Engaging Missions Interview. In April, I gave an interview on the Engaging Missions program, hosted by Bryan Etzminger. To listen to our conversation, just click the link HERE. We discussed various topics such as short-term missions, member care, partnership, the importance of accountability and unity for believers, and much more. Scroll to the bottom of the podcast link if you’d like to leave a comment.
Italy Mission Blog Update. To view my blog from my latest mission to Italy, Dec. 2015, click HERE and that will take you to this blog entry.
If you’d like to learn more about our AdventiveCCI contractors, view the ACCI Gallery page HERE where I share a picture of each team member and list where they’re serving (exceptions those in sensitive countries). I encourage you to choose a few and then pray for them this coming month.
NEW From CardsBeyond. I just updated my photo-cards product line with two new cards sets, and I’ve revised my blog so you can select and order your favorite cards. These can make great gifts, which is why I package the sets so they’re ready to give away to your friends and family. See the instructions on my ordering page HERE. Any profit from card sales will go toward my mission trips. Thanks for your support with this; you’re an important part of the ACCI team!
ASK Newsletter. Many of you have expressed how you are joining us in prayer the second Tuesday of each month to both celebrate and also lift prayer needs together for our ACCI team members. I want to say thank you and express how much you are helping make a difference.
“A Vision for Missions” Tour of Italy With ACCI Founder Tony Hedrick, June 1-13. Here’s a good opportunity to get an up-close-and-personal view of Italy and what God is doing in this corner of Europe. This promises to be a unique experience, learning about select ministries in Italy and with a very knowledgeable host. To learn more about this special tour, feel free to contact Tony HERE, or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Israel Tour. Alan Gilman is one of our Canadian contractors who will be hosting his second tour of Israel, scheduled for fall, 2016. More details are on his link HERE.
Short-Term Missions and ACCI. Did you know that you can ask me about serving alongside one of our AdventiveCCI missionaries? Many of them host individuals and teams on a short-term basis. If interested, contact me and I’d be happy to give you the specifics about possibly serving in Belize, Slovenia, Costa Rica, Italy, New Zealand, Israel, and more.
New Album Release! ACCI contractor Herdie Castillo is not only a pastor in his village in Belize, C.A., but also a recording artist who’s focusing on ministering to the hearts of Garifuna people in their own language through his music and storytelling. He’ll soon be releasing his 6th album. I had the privilege to record some background vocals this past March on Herdie’s project. I’ve also started working on the album’s cover design with a friend from here (Anoka, MN), who’s blessed us by donating his design company’s time to help out. I’ll keep you updated on the release of this new album.
I leave Sunday for a full week of member-care training in Colorado Springs at Mission Training Institute, April 10-16. I would appreciate prayer for wisdom and discernment regarding what and how to apply this new training information to my work with Adventive.
Watch for the launch of our newly designed ACCI website! It will be ready soon at www.adventive.ca !
This July/Aug. I’ll be facilitating a short-term mission youth team to Hopkins, Belize, along with Pastor Luke Haggett from Chapel Ridge Church, Ottawa, Canada. ACCI missionary Kathy McDonald will join me in helping to host this team. Please pray for our team as we’re now in the stage of fundraising and ministry preparations. (If you feel led to give a financial gift toward this mission, the giving instructions are at the bottom of this blog. Thank you!)
Member Care. Lauren Roth, ACCI’s Canadian director, and I will be traveling to Toronto in early July to spend time with our contractors, Jason and Sarah Goertzman, who will be visiting from New Zealand. We’re looking forward to seeing them and hearing firsthand about their work in Aukland at Fit 4 Life.
As many of you know, Pastor Herdie and his wife, Victoria, tragically lost their eldest daughter, Alice, on Feb. 29, who leaves behind her 5 children. I traveled to Belize the first week of March for Alice’s funeral and to be a support in any way I could. Herdie and Victoria will help raise the two oldest teenage granddaughters in Belize, while the younger 3 children have gone to live with their dad in New York. Please continue to pray for Herdie, Victoria, and their family as they grieve and adjust to this tremendous loss.
I ask you to pray too for our ACCI team members who are experiencing dangerous times serving in highly sensitive and troubled countries around the world. Although I cannot give specifics on my blog, I invite you to ask the Holy Spirit to lead you in prayer for them.
- For my member-care training next week at MTI, safe travel, good health (and the same for my upcoming travels)
- Wisdom and Spirit-led direction as I’m visiting with with our missionaries and their families & as we process new applicants
- For the Lord to raise up additional monthly prayer and financial partners
- For continued protection around Luke and I as a family, our marriage, balance of work/home life
- Unity as a staff and our board members, as we all make decisions that affect those we serve
I’d be glad to add you to my prayer email list. Once in a while I send out a need for prayer covering. Just bump me an email and I’ll add you on my list by clicking HERE.
Would you consider becoming a monthly giving partner for one year? And by the way, no amount is too small. If you do feel led to do so, just go online to our ACCI website HERE, choose Donate Now US, then choose if you’d prefer to give monthly or a one-time gift, then find my name under United States, and you’re done! Or I can email you a giving slip if you’d prefer to donate by regular mail.
Annual Financial Update Coming in May. Soon I’ll be sending out my annual ACCI financial update, where I’ll share in more detail about my past 5 years serving with ACCI. I’m reading a wonderful book titled The God Ask, which has been a helpful tool, written from a biblical perspective about fundraising. I highly recommend it!
